I'm leaning towards running most things under VMware VMs as it
largely removes hardware issues, and is dead easy to move VMs to
new systems if necessary. All my SCO OpenServer systems are
running under VMs.

I wouldn't do anything on DOS/Windows until I had perl and the
elvis 'vi' editor available. Back in the DOS days where memory
was very limited, I often generated .bat files with perl, then
quit perl to run the batch file.

Today, about the only thing I do with Windows is run it under
VMware Fusion on my MacBook Pro to do double dummy analysis of
bridge hands generated in Python on my MacBook Pro and run the
dealing machine to prepare duplicate boards for club games.
