I believe so, although I've not used WordStar since 1992.

My best friend changed his password to ^Skullz once at university.  He
couldn't figure out why his account froze after he logged in.  We had a
good laugh about it when I explained flow control to him. :) (We've got
technical parity these days, and have never taken offence either way at any
point.  In fact, he's the one person I can honestly say I've -never- had an
argument with, since 1986.)
