Recommendations on laser printer for printing checks

I use a HP1200, or actually any HP Laser printer will work with the MICR Font installed and then use a MICR Toner cartridge and let the program do the number for you. You can then buy blank check stock and your all set. It works great and I have any clients printing there checks that way. You can even include graphics and a signature if you want.

I have been told that it is possible to order check stock that is reverse-collated, for situations where the printer flips the paper before printing.

Or, it is possible to set up Print Wizard to drive a duplex printer so that it flips a page, prints nothing, flips it again, and then prints the check. This allows you to put stock in the printer face up.

But your question makes me wonder: is the operator looking at the check stock to see what check number is next, and entering that check number into the computer? If so, they are missing an opportunity for an internal control -- what if someone had stolen some checks? Don't you want the software to know what number SHOULD be next?
