Ubuntu is a live CD, does it run just fine from the CD without installing?

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_7.04_on_a_ThinkPad_T23
leads me to belive it should work.

I've run Ubuntu on the laptop I won at the filePro conference for a year
and a half with only 256Meg. Mostly because it would overheat and
shutdown under windows, and Linux seems to keep the fans throttled up a
lot more. The box still gets pretty hot, but it never seems to stop even
though it sounds like a DC-3.

When you get the box up and running, install also install the WINE
package, and then install the Windows version of Firefox just like you
would on a Windows box (click on the firefox setup exe you download) .
Then if you need to watch any TV shows on CBS.com or NBC.... they play
perfectly. You cannot watch "Big Bang Theory" with the native version of
Firefox on Ubunutu.

Downside for me is that it runs about 20 degrees hotter streaming video,
but it works pretty smooth.

I was in DC last week, and I got props from actually knowing the real
Howard Wolowitz when BBT came up for discussion.

See, this topic is related to filePro.
