Not really. Line inputs usually have different conditioning (preamp-based
mostly) than mic inputs. They "sound" very different actually. On very high
end equipment it is not easy to hear the difference. On lower end stuff (I'm
guessing like the Sony has) the difference is noticeable. You get a kind of
hard, brassy sound if you try and pad a line level input down to mic
level.... sor to like listening to the high impedance input of an old
Silvertone guitar amp from Sears with a cheap Shure microphone plugged into
it. (A real garage-band PA!) :-)  Hell, everytbody's shooting for that sound
these days.  Good luck, unless you go playing with tubes.
