I have an iMic which is connected to an old Dynakit preamp and my Thorens
turntable. The iMic connects with USB to my Mac Mini and works well. It
has a switch on its input to allow it to be connected directly to low-level
magnetic cartridges or the the line output of the preamp.
I thought the original question though was something for portable recording
for things like meetings.
