One of my client's builds his own tube equipment, amp,pre-amp and speakers
etc.
He maintains a constant low voltage to the amp and pre-amp so they don't
have to warm up. Besides he feels that one "shocks" the tubes by suddenly
turning on power to a cold tube.
He designs and builds new equipment about every 3 years. He gave his old
system to his shipping clerks to use when listening to music at his
warehouse. The speakers which came with the system are a pair of 6' high
units that could be used in a theater. This is probably equipment worth
over $5,000.
By the way, it's the same client who built that UPS room.
