I was working at a client's home - Main office for business with 3 warehouses.
After completing what I needed to do for his business, he asked me to check one
of his 3 sons computers which was having problems connecting to the internet.
I'll leave that alone for now.
Problem - Could not fine the disks supplied by Dell for this computer. There
are 5 Dell computers in the house, 3 desktops and 2 laptops. This was the only
one with WindowsXP Pro.
After much searching we finally located most of the Cd's belonging to this
machine. NO OS disk though. The disks for the other computers were all over
the place. This included the NT disks for one of the file servers. The kids
thought the Disk binder for the server disks would be great for their audio
CD's.
Although most of us keep track of the disks for our own computers, I would
strongly suggest, if you haven't already, advise you client's to your in-house
staff, to keep track of what came with each computer and make sure they are
labeled. You should also make a copy of any paperwork which has the components
supplied with the computer and keep it with the computer. This will make
reinstalling drivers easier.
This is especially true for WinXp do to the licensing scheme that MS uses with
this OS.
