Well they are still upset over WWII.   We didn't come to their help
when they asked as we were isolationist.  Germany invaded in
May of 1940, followed by Italy in June, and on June 14th 1940 Paris
fell  and within a week they signed an armistice with the axis.

That move left Paris to be about the only major European city 
that didn't suffer major destruction.  They weren't happy about it
but it saved good parts of their country.  But we didn't help them
until after we had been attacked by Japan.

They surely ship a lot of product in the US.  If it says RCA
it was made by Thompson.  GE sold the RCA consumer division to
Thomson when they bought RCA keeping NBC.
