I can see both sides of that argument, having operated a network that it was
occasionally useful to have contractors VPN into -- we call those Virtual
Private Nightmares for a reason, and you sort of have to treat those machines
as part of your network... or you have to dump them into a DMZ where you can
scan passing traffic for infections.
I don't disagree with your solution, though.
