John,

Feel free to post!!

I made a few typo corrections and removed a confusing explanatory note.

I am------------------------------------ inserting the revised writeup below this line that will be better to post.

Will,\\Will,
As I told you, I've been looking for the specifics for local or remote [printing for about 6 months now, and your step-by-step article here totally covers it on both the SCO side *and* the Windows10 side... Amazing. Can't thank you enough, and I know the filePro people on the FP mailing list and FP Technologies itself will really appreciate this!

/john

I am sending you steps for adding a FacetWin remote printer (printer attach to PC) on the SCO server so that you should be able use from FilePro.

ON THE WINDOWS PC:

1) Share the printer in Windows on the Sharing tab on the Windows PC.

2) Note the Share name because it is needed for adding the printer on the Unix server.

3) Changes needed to be made on Windows PC to allow connections from the UNIX server to the shared printer.

Change the security option on the client Windows PC:
Administrative Tools
Local Security Policy
Local Policies
Security Options
Network security: LAN Manager authentication level:
Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated

Change the security option on Windows PC:
Administrative Tools
Local Security Policy
Local Policies
Security Options
Microsoft Network: Digitally sign communications (always): Disabled

Apply change and then reboot Windows PC.

ON THE UNIX SERVER:

If FacetWin is installed on the Unix server, you can see the fct_rlpadmin options that are used by running the following Unix command:

man fct_rlpadmin

This script is used for adding a remote printer from the UNIX system.
Reference the output of the "man fct_rlpdmin" for the explanation of the options used in the example command below.

The printer in this example will be called "hp".

This is an example to add the "hp" printer on the Unix system.

fct_rlpadmin -a hp -n win10pc -r hp -u administrator -p password

After the script has finished, the printer is ready to be used.
Remember that "fct_" has been prepended to the printer name.

Run the following command to list the printers.

lpstat -t

To print a UNIX file named "file1" on this printer using the "lp" UNIX command, you would enter:

lp -d fct_hp file1

I did try, but I have been very "out to lunch" since I broke my back on October 5th! Yes, actually did. I've been essentially laid up since then, Can only get up to walk for critically important things, and it looks like I will need to stay this way for another 3 or 4 weeks! ☹ ☹( It is so hard to even imagine doing that now that I am a little more *able* to really get up and walk around.

So I had essentially given up!
