I know that we have been advised not to use the same field names in a map. I have noted that I have one file where I have duplicate field names in the map but I am using the field numbers in processing rather than the field names. Does this matter?
I have one file where the map contains multiple duplicate names i.e. field 84 Header_Date and field 88 Header_Date or fields 76 and 95 authcode. One program uses the field name and another uses the field number. This issue came about as my client changed companies who were processing transactions and used similar field names in their response. The long variable field called "header" and the response value is stored in a long variable called "value."
I had to create an array mapped to the group of fields be used, The fields are in the same sequence as the response fields returned. In that way I can assign a value to the proper field without knowing the field number or field name.
