He's not wrong. The Netgear ReadyNAS doesn't even actually use full
gigabit speeds, much less tenfold. Well, it actually might -now-. Didn't
used to. It could be a cabling issue, as I recently changed cables because
one -broke- at the RJ-45 adapter, but my NAS -used- to be about equally
fast on gigabit ethernet directly into the tower, and over WiFi (802.11ac
circa 2012). Seriously. Used to be capped around 50MB/sec, or about half
a gigabit. I was always very disappointed in that.
It's improved now, but it's still not slurping a full 960mbit. More like
~750-800-ish when I've watched it going full-bore. Ironically, since
updating to WiFi 6, I could -still- make it as fast on WiFi, because I
can push at least 942mbit over that. (AX2000 chips are incredible.)
I actually backup the laptop over WiFi, to the NAS mounted directly on my
tower. It all works quite respectably these days.
