FORTY YEARS!

FORTY YEARS! I've been in the software business forty years today, first 
as Rasmussen and Associates and later as Rasmussen Software Inc. I started 
out by purchasing a desk, a typewriter, an answering machine, and a 2-line 
phone. Not even a computer.

This was before PCs, before cell phones, before internet, before local 
area networks, before laser printers, before CDs, before most floppy 
disks. Before digital photographs. Before Microsoft licensed MS-DOS to 
IBM. (After punch cards and paper tape and data storage on audio 
cassettes.)

So many memories. So many generations of computer hardware. So many 
operating systems, computer languages, best practices, buzz words, 
international character sets. So many customers helped, products 
developed, products abandoned, products reinvented. So many trade shows 
and exhibitions and articles and presentations. So many times trying 
to explain what our software was and did. A dozen or so employees, for 
whom I'm grateful. Three offices. One loan.

I tend to get lost in the memories...
