OT: setting up mail on Centos 7 server

I have our new server about ready to deploy

I have sendmail installed but when trying to use mutt to send an email to
myself it's looking for a local user name
For instance, I have the server configured as pdmfl at pdminc.net (similar to
our existing Centos 5 server)
Now when I try to email myself at my normal work email @pdminc.net it's
looking for a local user on the server and saying 'user not found'
I can email my gmail account with no issue but any email address I use
that's @pdminc.net it's looking to send it to a local user accounts mail vs
their work email (a problem I haven't seen on my Centos 5 server)
I've looked at about everything I can think of and have been working on
this for a couple hours and but haven't found a work around
Has something major changed in how mail works from Centos 5 to 7?
I need to be able to send emails from this server to many staff members
here so it's a big deal...
any input would be appreciated

Scott
