Lookup dash

Wayne,

I would add that it saves space to use Header/ Detail files.

For example,

If I have a record that is setup to hold 15 line items, then it will
have space for Quantity, price, extension, ship date - maybe backorders
etc. This data will be repeated 15 times on every invoice - even if the
invoice does not have 15 items.

When you setup Header files to hold all the totals, shipping and billing
into, etc and detail files for the line item information, one record per
line item, you just shortened the storage required per invoice.

It gives you better access to reports. I want a report by inventory
part, all I have to do is search the detail. Easy report to write.

If you continue down the One record system for the Invoice, be sure to
setup a unique numbering system. For example, INVNUM-PAGE
so stuff will stay in order.
