They both are.
You need CHR(92) to keep dcabe from eating the backslash, but the output
routines either in or called by MSGBOX *also* parse the string, and will eat
one layer of backslash, so you have to escape it.
You think this is bad, try writing shellscripts that write shellscripts that
write shellscripts.
My first programming job I did that on a Datamaster/23, going in and out of
BASIC/23 a total of 13 times for one project.
