Looking for a programmer to work with

I'm Dave Duff

I've worked with Filepro since the early Tandy days, starting with the Model 4 and the Model 16/6000.

I'm 66, retired in 2015 and gave my company, MicroSys, to my partner.
Well, retirement lasted about two months before I got bored out of my mind.
So I started a new company, Practical Computing Solutions, LLC and got back
to what I really loved doing, Filepro.

I don't need the money, between Social Security and my Inheritance, I don't ever need to work.
No, I'm not rich, but I am very comfortable.

My office is in the Tampa/St Petersburg area

The first thing I have to offer is 35 years of all kinds of Tech Support experience, be it Windows, Unix, Linux, even AIX.
Hardware or Software problems, the whole gamut, you name it and I've probably done it.

Second item is Filepro experience. I can PROGRAM but I am not a PROGRAMMER. If you write it, I can flesh it out (or fix it).
But I also know more about what Filepro can do and what it's quirks are than most actual programmers. And I'm a very good designer.

Third is an incredibly powerful accounting system with features you won't find in almost any other accounting system, no matter how expensive.
The hard parts are done and what it needs now is mostly polish. It was based on the old 4GEN system but just about
everything except A/P has had major improvements or was totally rewritten.

It runs on SCO 5 or SCO 6 at the moment and we are looking at running it virtually on Linux. We've also done some work toward
converting to Filepro menus but the old 4GEN menus are lightyears ahead of Filepro's. We do have a PERL based system that
works with the Filepro menus but we haven't done a complete conversion to it.

Plus, a number of Vertical Market applications that include the following:
Hydraulic Repair and Supply Companies
Telephone Sales & Repair Companies
Mobile Home Park Management
Pest Control/Termite

Fourth and just as important as everything else. I CAN SELL!!!

So why am I here?

I lost my main programmers in 2000 and, after I brought my partner in, he didn't want to be involved with programming.
I have supported my clients over the years but wasn't really in a position to do further development.
I've only been able to get a limited amount of support from two people I've worked with over the past 35 years.

I only want to work for another 4 to 6 years and I would like someone who has learned our systems to eventually
take over and run the operation. Hopefully, that person would be somewhat younger than I am but who knows.

NO, this doesn't mean that I'm looking for someone to work for free. Initially, you are not going to make the big bucks
because my current clients are used to paying $75 to $85 per hour. Obviously, going forward, that will have to change.

And, like I said, I don't need the money so we can be pretty negotiable.

I also apologize in advance for being so long-winded.
