I suppose it's possible, but it seems unlikely. Whole sets are completely
and properly dressed for the eras. The sheer amount of 80s cars... The
lighting, the paints, wallpapers, phones, clothing, hairstyles, shoes,
everything. It's just really amazing.
Spielberg probably wouldn't do what you suggest, just based on the secrecy
surrounding something like Super 8. A production like this probably
wouldn't because it'd be hugely impractical to do four seasons running like
that, if nothing else. (I'm only just about through the first season of
the two available on Netflix. It's going to be a painful wait for the last
two seasons!)
