OT: Interesting fact

Have any of you ever wondered why the Processor-Architecture is set to AMD64?

Apparently back around 2003 Intel signed a cross licensing agreement with AMD to use AMD's 64 bit extension to the X86 chip.

Now you, if you hadn't known, know why computers with either an Intel processor and AMD processor, when running Windows 64 bit, show AMD64 as the Processor-Architecture. (As I don't have access to *nix OS's, I don't know if this variable is set with *Nix).

As Ken advised me some time ago, this environment setting is important when running filePro in a network environment. Many of my clients have both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows running on their machines. In this mixed environment it was easier to install both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions of filePro and have the startup file check to see which processor architecture was running and point to the proper version of filePro executables.

The only issue I have is that there is no environmental variable that I am aware that allows for pointing to the lib directory (folder) to use as the default. One can point to a config file or the default menus but not the printer files. One has to insure that the prt files are in both \fp\lib folders or /fp/lib directories.
