Thanks for all the replies to my query about how to access a remote Windows server.
There were too many to respond to each one individually, and they were all helpful
My client is planning to move to a new office and was not clear on what off-site hosting involved.
Neither was I, at least for a Windows server.  My experience is with Unix, which is a much easier problem.
Now that I have been able to clarify that for him, he has decided to take his server with him to the new office.
When he is off-site at home or travelling, he will access the server via remote desktop.
Meanwhile, his office staff will access the server directly, just as they always have.
A much better solution for him than placing the server "in the cloud".
And he still gets all the benefits he was looking for.
