non-alphabetic characters

In general, this can work well if all players agree on what character set
is being used.

With AnzioWin as the terminal emulator, specifically:

1) Set the character set for screen (in Anzio) to "ISO", which means
ISO-8859-1 (also known as Latin-1) on US Windows installations. This will
allow not only the characters you mentioned, but also many accented
characters as used in Western European languages.

2) Set screen font to "Courier New". Other fonts will be used if needed
for specific characters (which they should not be, for the ISO set).

3) Type special characters by one of the MANY ways possible in Windows,
such as a) as shown on a key, b) alt-numeric-pad equivalent, c) copy/paste
from Charmap utility, d) configure keyboard for US-International and type
corresponding keys/combinations.

4) Or, assign special keys to the AnzioWin toolbar.

5) Or, use AnzioWin's control key combinations, such as ctrl-tilde then
"n" for "ñ".

6) Do all printing through AnzioWin, with AnzioWin's "Character set for
printing" set to ISO.

7) Use printwiz.prt printer definition file to cause filePro to issue
PWML, or use an HP Laserjet printer definition that configures for
ISO-8859-1.

Possible gotcha: if the terminal type entry used on the filePro end does
not properly switch in and out of "graphics" (linedraw) mode, that could
be a problem. I don't know, right off, which do and which might not.
