I would question if you have file sizes that approach some 32 bit value like
2 Gig or maybe even 1.024 Gig, but you are past that.

Subject: RE: increasing field size
At a client's site:
Windows server 2008, Windows 7 Pro on client.
filePro 5.6.10
Increased the size of their po # field from (6,.0) to (7,.0) in 2 files
ord_head and orders.
Had no problem with the ord_head file. But when I try to change this field
in the orders(details) file, nothing happens.
For Ken, only the first record's field size is changed and then the process
stops and returns to menu.
There are 15,779,055 in the primary key and 19,652,019 in the history
qualifier. Record length is 317
Any assistance with solving this problem will be greatly appreciated.
I can always upload these files to my laptop and redo the map. However,
based on the size of these files, this could take a while.

PS: yes, I made copies of the both key files and the map before doing this.
