My xterm/xterm-color entry also includes linux via tc, and linux -- in
my /appl/fp/termcap -- *also* doesn't include PV.

No, apparently, I'm blind, my linux *does* include PV.

But so does my linux-mono, oddly.

Well, I'll dot it out, and see if that helps.  Thanks, all.

Adding .PV to xterm did not help, but adding a . to PV *in the linux
entry* did solve the problem  I personally think that's a bug in the
termcap implementation; that's precisely what . is supposed to be for
as I understood it, but at least I got my problem solved.g
