All,

FilePro(r) 5.7.03
Windows Server 2008
Windows 7, and XP workstations

Back in December 2012 I posted about SSAE-16 (formerly SAS 70) compliancy using filePro(r). One of my issues was the menu system, and the fact that you could only have one password per menu, and that the passwords being used needed to conform to a certain standard (i.e. certain length, complexity, and so forth).

Well in that time I developed a VB utility that will query Active Directory to determine whether a username and password were in fact correct. It can be called from a filePro(r) menu batch file, or from within a processing table. There are several ways it could be called using passable parameters. You can also tell it what Active Directory groups are allowed to access certain areas of filePro(r) as well.
It can also be told not to ask for username and password, and just verify by Active Directory groupings.

This is a very brief description of what it does, but what I wanted to know is if anyone would be interested in something like this, and if so what you all might think it would be worth to you. I am open to any suggestions/opinions.

If there was a lot of interest, I could write a manual on how to implement it into your programs, and menus. It has only been tested in our facility, using the above configurations. I don't see why it would not work on other Windows/filePro(r) platforms though.

It really is not that complicated once it is setup. It has been working for us for almost 2 years now, with no issues.

The best part for us, is that it satisfied our need for filePro(r) being SSAE-16 compliant.

Thank you

Christopher Sellitto
