roofing software

A colleague in Michigan posted this on another mailing list:
One of my customers has referred me to a residential roofing
contractor who is looking for a software system to help him
organize his workflow. His company does a lot of remediation
work for insurance companies as well as normal roofing projects.
There are paper flow issues with insurance claims that nothing
he has tried seems to work very well, nor do the disjointed
systems he has used work together.
Some of the so-called IT folks in this geography who give us
all a bad name, have managed to sell him three windows servers
(for an office staff of 4 and a field staff of 6) complete with
exchange, IIS, and active directory (which have all crashed) and
another file server as well. Some software does not even work
at all.
Is anyone aware of software that could work for this roofing
company? Ideally, it should either work on a Windoze server
(which he already has) or on Linux. It would be even better if
it could tie in scanned documents to the workflow.
If anyone can help in this quest, please reply to me off-list.
