Although the OP didn't mention it, it is possible that he wants to attach 
files to the message as well.  Yes, sendmail can handle attachments, but you 
need to build the entire message properly, and handle the attachments 
yourself.  If that's the case, then an MUA that can be passed everything 
from the command line (or stdio) is probably a better choice.
