OT: Cisco VPM timeout

I realize this is not the forum for this question, but one of you might have
the answer.

 

My wife's company uses Cisco routers and their VPM client.  The problem she
and other face is that it times out after 8 hours even if they are working.
The company's IT department advises that they cannot change this as it is
hard wired into the Cisco VPN.

 

Since I am not familiar with the Cisco equipment or programming language, I
was wondering if that statement is correct or they just don't really know
how to make this change.
