OT: Win7 mapping to XP (was Re: Off topic- Map network drive in Win 7 to Sco Unix)

Thanks to all for the responses. I know it old, I know its not supported
yada yada. I have all new servers and software etc. Just have a need to
leave an old SCO server up and accessible for several reasons.
Ken's response was what I meant. It amazes me that you can run a virtual
machine with xp mode ON WIN 7 and access the shares, yet not be able to do
it on WIN 7 itself.
The SCO server is accessible thru visionfs and the Linux servers are SAMBA.
WIN7 sees only the linux servers, XP Mode sees both.
WIN7 asks for a username and password, so it must detect the server, just
rejects it.
