Save command

You would agree with you except this is at a client's site and freechn is
doing its own thing.

We have to get the users to wait for freechn to finish before continuing.

I need to track down the cause of this problem.

The users are adding records to this file from a system call, so they are
physically in that file.  The command after the save is EXIT, thereby
returning them to the original file/record they were looking at.
