fpcopy doesn't change any of the data, including the system fields.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the upper right" within a raw dump of the 
data, but I'm going to assume that on your screen the text wrapped such that 
the field containing "01/01/89" (between "EN2" and "JAN") happened to be in 
the upper-right corner.

I have no idea what your field layout is, so I have no way of knowing which 
of your fields happens to contain "01/01/89", but what you are looking at is 
not @CD.

If @CD contains "11/02/10" or "04/12/11", then that's the date that the 
record was created.  How or why it was created on that date, only you can 
answer, but I can guarantee that it wasn't fpcopy that did it.  If the copy 
has that date, then so did the original.

Prove it to yourself.  Copy the file again, and check @CD in the new copy. 
It will not contain today's date.
