Run FP license manager on netbook?

I was looking for a method to create a good, easily recoverable, backup
system for the FP License manager.
I only have one server and I don't want to hold a second just in case.
Making the Filepro files available to people is easy since I can make it
available from any shared drive and point people's computers to any new
fileserver is set up. But the license manager requires that the server
be set up with a particular user name. So I figured I could setup the
manager on a netbook running Linux and simply have it sitting on the
side in case of a server meltdown of some sort.
I'm not a Linux or License Manager expert so I wanted to know if others
here, who know a lot more about this stuff than I do, think that this
seems reasonable?
