You would think that by version 14.0 of Outlook, Microsoft would have
figured out how to do it.

Given the above definitions of (8,.2), it is not possible that they
contained the values you tried to store in them. It is not possible that
the debugger would have shown you that they did contain the values you tried
to put in them.
And I'm not sure what you mean by "appeared" to be correct.

"Part of the values"? How can you say that, if you tried to store the value
of "(brw=10 xkey=xdeu show=pkeep prc=nocard fill=desc,top)", and it actually
contained ".00", how is that "part of the values had been cut off"?
And, given that the debugger would have shown the value " .00", I again
don't understand how you say it "appeared" to be correct.

Well, given that " .00" looks nothing like the initial part of the
values you tried to store in ba/bb/bc, it's irrelevant to the problem at hand.
