Does you firewall on the SCO machine have the FTP port open?  I would 
not do that for a machine accessible via the internet.  I'd use SFTP 
instead.  If you have a firewall from the internet in front of the 
server *and* that FTP port is closed (i.e. you will be accessing this 
function just from the local network), then you could open the FTP port 
on the SCO machine.

Just remember that FTP sends data in the clear so anyone on your network 
with a port sniffer can see everything.

If at all possible, I'd not use FTP and use SFTP instead.
