I don't know about the Droid, but iSSH on the iPad allows one to
run X11 programs on *nix systems via ssh connections. It has a
good xterm emulation, but has the same problems with vertical
character alignment as normal xterms and gnome-terminal do when
running FilePro.
I have found that running python curses applications work fine as
does my Unify-based accounting software (but then I wrote C
routines to replace Unify's so I do most screen handling with them).
Frankly I was amazed to find that iSSH does X11, and I'm not sure
what I would do with it.
