Using FP 5.6 to develope for 5.0.14 runtime systems

I keep old filepro installs on my computer from 3.0 to 5.6 so I can
develop with the same version the customer owns.
But I did try development with 5.6 on a system that uses 5.0, issues are
that indexes must be built by the correct system. I would worry about
tok. files and if they are portable, I think they are. I am not sure
why they felt it necessary to make the indexes incompatible between
versions, but they did. I hope it is because the 5.6 indexes are more
solid, but you never know.
I know Unix filepro develops the same code as Linux filepro. I use my
Unix system to develop for a Linux system and have never had a problem.
They both are 5.0.
BTW - 2gig is not an issue with 5.0 - remember it is a limit for one
file lets say key. If you have no data portion, then you can have
filepro generate a keyx1, keyx2, keyx3 - each can be 2G in size. The
difficulty remaining will be if the indexes exceed 2G. They can not be
split.
