Using FP 5.6 to develope for 5.0.14 runtime systems

Top post:

I am using development 5.6.10, Windows, an still maintaining programs from
4.5, 4.8, and 5.0.

I have not upgraded or installed 5.0.15 as the license manager presents a
problem for many of my clients. All are legal with their number of users
but have people who open multiple sessions. I have one client with a 5 user
license but only 2 people using the system. However, they can have 10
sessions open between them.

By the way, I still have my 4.5, 4.8, 5.0 development systems on my server,
I have start-up files which point the each development version with client
date in their own directories. 2 for each client, I for their current
run-time version and one for support. None of my clients who are running
older versions of filePro are asking for new programming. In most cases,
they can't afford it. So, it is maintenance only or a minor change such as
increasing a field size, or a new printer.

At the present time, filepro is very backward compatible. The only
compelling reason to upgrade to 5.6 would be if you have a client whose
files size will break the 2Gb barrier.
