I understandethis is a filePro forum but I need emergency help. Please forgive me for this post if it is all that out of place.

I am the nite before a convention is to open and a computer I use has gone bad. Won't start. If it does it hangs. Given up on it.

Now trying to make another computer do something the other did. Having trouble.

New system I am using is Windows Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba .

The program I am trying to use reads data from a scanner. The scanner connects to the computer via a cable which has a 9 pin serial port. On the other computer I used a USB to Serial converter cable so they would connect and all worked fine.

Using all the same equipment and cables on the Vista I get the message USB-Serial Adapter Driver needed to be installed but cannot be found. I have no CD for the adapter it didn't come with one. Windows had no suggestions on how to solve problem.

I have used Google and gone to Microsoft to find a driver but it is beyond me and the time I have to figure it out.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and I know I am making some unhappy but I am desperate. Please forgive me. THANK YOU Art Moore
