defined dummy field not viewable in browse

Well, yes, that was one of the implementation ideas. In other words it
would be a processing mode triggered by displaying a record in that window.
It would most likely have to be on the AUTOMATIC table somewhere, and it
would have to be strictly limited so as not to affect the value of any real
field.
I've thought about it from time to time since way back when... And really it
only has some merit as a reporting tool of some sort. You could see the
value of several fields added together , or a balanced due when there is
really no balance due field, things like that..... But even these things
became less and less useful balanced against the drawbacks having them might
present.
I think it would still be great to have an updateable browse line... Where
you could press you wile your cursor was in a field and edit the value right
along the line. (following all the INPUT processing and TRIGGER processing
that would apply. But, again, you're in for a whole lot of fish when things
you hadn't planned on start happening just because you do something from
the browse mode and not the INPUT mode (from the full screen). We all know
that the programming of things is all important. Perhaps, a BROWSE mode
could be really useful and then again to constantly have to worry about ...
Now what do I do if they leave this field and they are on a browse row
instead of the full screen..... Everything has pros and cons.
