I had to replace my dying Sony/Ericsson phone about four months ago.  Good
luck trying to find a model that -doesn't- have all the bells and whistles.

I looked at the free ones, and there was something I disliked about every
one of them.

What did catch my wife's and my eye was the Samsung Solstice (SGH-A887).  I
won't list the myriad of features here...Google it if you're interested.
The thing that wins hands-down is the onscreen keyboard.  If you tilt it 90
degrees, you get a full qwerty keyboard with selectable modes.  Makes data
entry MUCH faster, with no moving parts.

I can say that I love this phone.  And despite the fact I have a
PlayStation Portable, we actually did buy three games for the phone.
*laugh*

I like the browser, too.  It's actually not bad.  It doesn't handle z-index
from CSS, and -some- inline stuff is a little questionable at times, but by
and large it actually does a pretty decent job of trying to render complex
pages.

I'm working on a project right now that I eventually hope to outsource the
mobile app coding for, once I'm done with the first two phases of rollout.

I guess you could say I've changed my mind and am adopting mobile stuff
more and more, if gradually.  In the space of a night, I went from my
old view and basically being adamant that we would definitely cancel the
mandatory trial period of net access for the phone, to keeping the net
access to the phone and using a bunch of features.  Still haven't convinced
the wife to let me get the GPS Navigator, though.  :)
