MEMO Problem

I'm running filePro Version 5.06 Windows Network. A problem has
developed with the Blob/Memo file. New notes can be added to the MEMO
file but if you attempt to view the new notes you see various types of
corruption. Sometimes just a line appears, sometimes another records
note, somethings just a blank record, etc.
It had been working for a while now, but now the MEMO file appears to
be trashed. Are there any utilities that might be able to rebuild this
file? Is the MEMO function just a waste of time? If I find some old
backup versions of the file how can I tell if they're any good? Thanks
