Oh I quite agree! :)
In fact I don't actually use the stock putty but my own modified
version which includes local-files-instead-of-registry hacks
from one of the "PortaPuTTY" spin-offs that exist now.

The point of the post was more to provide a known working
reference.
Not so much "do this", as "this works", where you take that
as a reference point and do whatever you want based on that.

I figured a reference should work off of the stock putty rather
than one of the spin-offs, including my own.

Plus people have mentioned a bunch of times directly or
indirectly about having glitchy terminal annoyances trying to
use putty to access sco boxes. So I figured just post a full
saved session once instead of describing verbally, or with
screen-shots, how to navigate all the config screens.

Both portaputty variants I know of will still read settings
from the registry and then let you save them back out to files.
However they each use very different file formats, and the one
with the more convenient file format is buggy and fails to handle
all options correctly, the other has a less nice file format for
humans, but gets everything right reliably. So, rather than pick
one of those, I figure just use the stock putty and let
individuals improve from that common denominator in whatever
directions they want.
