| Go to the ~/fp/logs directory and look at the log files.
There are two log files there, the latest dated 03/08/2007 and the
other 04/20/2006, and nothing of interest in either of them.
| If that doesn't tell you enough information, then go to the ~/fp
| directory in a command window and run fplmserver.exe and see if it
| displays more information on the screen.
That gave an error message:
FATAL Server Could not acquire license for server.
Interesting additional info: in C:\fp\lib I have two files dated:
licfp.dat 08/04/2007
licfp.bkp 08/24/2008
I have no idea how the latter one was created just last month, or
what its purpose is. They are of very slightly different sizes.
More info: licinfo.exe reports it's for drive A0548404, but System
Information tells me my drive's volume serial number is 0092122A.
Neither of those are for what other programs report as my drive
serial number. I've made no hardware changes recently.
I did have a larger drive installed a year or so ago, and had to go
through this at that time, but no changes have been made since (and
I have no idea what my original drive's serial number was).
I have another (IBM ThinkVantage ThinkPad) program that tells me my
drive's serial number is Y6BUF670S.
| If that doesn't get you going, contact fpsupport.
I guess that's what I'll have to do.
I'm happy that filePro isn't a railroad, because this would be a heck
of a way to run a railroad. (How many ways are there to determine a
hard drives serial number, yet come up with different answers? I just
ran a Western Digital HDD Diagonistic program and it came up with the
same result as did my IBM ThinkVantage ThinkPad program.)

PS - I may try substituting the mysterious licfp.bkp file for the
licfp.dat file and see if that fises it.
