George - I have not followed this thread closely but seeing that it is
still alive I will jump and and hopefully not repeat. Like most
filePro printing issues there are several ways to go about doing what
you are asking - depending on circumstances.

1. If your laser printer has the smiley symbol as a character in one
of its internal fonts then you can create a printer code to print it.

2. If your laser printer does not have the smiley symbol as a
character in one of its internal fonts then you can obtain and copy a
downloadable Truetype font to the printer when required and create a
printer code to print it. This takes several steps and can get tricky
to configure if you don't know what you are doing. Once you have it
in place it is fairly easy to use.

3. Unless there are a lot of special symbols that you want to print
the easiest solution might be to insert a smiley image (picture)
rather than a font character at the point you want it to print. The
advantage to this solution is that it is easy to set up, can be any
size, and can be any image not just one that exists in a font. The
disadvantage is that it would have to be printed at an exact X,Y
position on the report/form. It could not move left or right as part
of a variable.

Consider these options and if any of them seem appropriate for you let
me know if you would like more info.

Peace,

Thanks, Steve.
I'm trying to replace a user-defined symbol or group of characters
with the
smiley, but have not found a way to accomplish that. The only way I
know
would be to replace the character(s) with a chr() and I have not found
one
that gives me a smiley or heart.
My customers use Windows.
