While you can't put a printcode as such into a dummy field, you can
very easily put the contents of a printcode into a dummy field.
Consider...
aa=chr("27"){"(579LJ"{chr("27"){"(10U"{""
The pcl code simply changes symbol set to wingdings (579L), prints "J"
which is mapped to a smiley in windings, and then returns to PC-8.
In processing you would then have to "splice" aa into your printing
variable.
As I said earlier, it is possible to create a downloadable symbol set
whereby you could map a smiley, let's say to a "~", and then whenever
you wanted a smiley you would simply enter a tilde.
I haven't looked at this for 15 years, but it is possible.
