I don't see the emails from the list.

Bill is not blocking anything.
Get even a shred of an idea what you're talking about, then have opinions
and make accusations about it.
SCOMP is a complaint, sent to Bill, that happens when an AOL user receives a
list message and clicks on "this is spam." What else should you do with
such a user that signs up for a list and then accuses it of spamming them?
They asked to be removed from the list so he did.
Frankly he's doing them a service they don't deserve. By rights, they should
actually stay on the list and continue to receive the messages untill they
unsubscribe. Hitting the spam button to trigger a chain of events that just
happens along the way to also cause Bill himself (or scripts he had to
develop) to have to unsubscribe you, because you can't be bothered to read
the unsibscribe directions, is really an abuse of the system and other
peoples time. Not to mention libel & slander. When you go out of your way to
do something, it's not unreasonable to expect you to be responsible for
undoing it. But if Bill didn't go out of his way to grant them their wish,
Bills domain would get blocked by AOL.
If you clicked "delete" on a printer in windows, do you expect Bill Gates to
fix your printer that suddenly stopped working for "no reason" ? If
Microsoft had some button right in the faild-to-print dialog that said "Mark
HP printers as broken junk that stops working" can HP really help the fact
that you're an idiot that clicks on things without reading?

Yes, the list is subscriber only, but I regularly approve
legitimate postings from non-subscribers.
I've seen Mailman suspend subscriptions to one or more
adelphia addresses as a result of multiple bounces. I don't
remember the details, but the bounces may well have been things
like exceeding quotas.

Some ISPs are using ``grey listing'', a process in which messages
are initially rejected with a 400 series SMTP message, later to
be accepted. The idea is that legitimate MTAs (Mail Transport
Agents) will retry later while spammer's malware probably won't.
This may result in delays sending messages to these ISPs.
On a somewhat related note, e-mail complaints to AOL that result
in AOL's sending us ``SCOMP'' notices will result in the related
address being removed from the list without notice.
