Rembering . . .
I first knew of Robert Lipe when he was a device driver programmer
for DigiBoard. He later joined SCO as a device driver programmer.
His hobby was always GPS stuff. He's now employed by Google, and
melding his skills with his love - GPS and Google Maps.
Moral . . . Follow your heart, follow your love, and you'll end up
where you want to be.
Bob (who has done that, living here with his lovely wife Nada)
PS - Robert Lipe lives in Nashville, TN - far away from Redmon, WA
or Silicon Valley.

| In March I purchased a GPS unit from Cobra at a G.I.Joe's outdoor store.
| Cost with mapping software was under $200. This is a fairly rugged
| portable unit with memory and a USB interface. I then trekked the canyons
| around the edge of Death Valley.
|
| This unit can do tracking, whereby it records its location over time. This
| does NOT require that it be connected to a PC at the time.
|
| Later, you can plug it into a USB port, and its memory becomes visible as
| a thumb drive. I *believe* that the tracking data is visible as an ASCII
| file. I don't have it with me at the office.
|
| I think this should give you what you need.
