When you say the same network cable, do you mean that you have
something like a terminal block where one cat-5 cable is split
out so that it has a LAN cable and two pairs for POTS lines?
I have done this on occassion where the number of drops was
limited, and don't remember ever having problems, at least with
10/100 speeds on the LAN. Where I have a say in the build-out
cabling, I specify lots of cable drops per office as it usually
doesn't cost much per extra drop when one has a crew installing
and cabling is relatively cheap (although there have been quite a
few cases where thieves are stealing copper wire and pipe from
construction sites and suppliers yards around here as the value
of the dollar plummets compared to Real Things(tm)).
