Well, _someone_ put it there, and it wasn't me.  :-)

Perhaps they were part of the 5.6 beta, and accidentally put that
license back in place after the crash?

No matter how it got there, that was the cause of the problem.  Once
a valid 5.0 license was put in place, everything ran as expected, and
the problem was solved.  Had their 5.0 license been put in place from
the start, they would never have had a problem.
