Roger Anderson propounded (on Sat, Jul 28, 2007 at 01:47:41PM -0500):
| Filepro 5.0.5 5 license
|
| Open server 5.0.5
|
| I am a filepro user and not a programmer. I have been using filepro sense
| the Tandy 6000 days. Over the years I have managed to write an open order
| billing system that has been serving my business well for almost 30 years. I
| am retiring and turning the business over to my sons and would like to
| upgrade the programs and hardware so that it might run for another 20 or 30
| years. I know that is asking a lot but these programs have served me well
| and I expect they will continue to do so.
|
| To that end I have ordered a new server and will upgrade filepro. My
| question to you is this. Do I stay with Open server 5, upgrade to 6 or go to
| some other operating system? Is open server 6 as stable as 5? There is no
| filepro support in the Minneapolis area and little open server support. I
| expect this can be done remotely should the need arise. I would appreciate
| your comments. I am trying to avoid any surprises.

I find OSR 6.0.0 just as stable as OSR 5.0.7.

I see several Unix consultants in Brooklyn Park, Minneapolis, St.Louis
park...

OTOH, sitting here in New York, I support OSR 6.0.0 sites in Texas
and Michigan.
